Am sure all of us know the importance of ‘self-care’. Many of you may have a pretty good idea of what it means too. But what is so special about this article? Yes, the article explains the facts of how to take care of yourself from the point of the subject ‘Psychology.’

According to Psychology there are five types of self-care.

1. Emotional self-care

2. Physical

3. Social

4. Mental

5. Spiritual

Self- care takes a great place in Psychology and its considered one of the main subject areas in ‘Psychology’ If we are physically and mentally well only we shall be successful in every other act we do. Sometimes self-care can be really challenging and rewarding too. Having a great balance and awareness in above areas would always benefit an individual.

According to psychology experts taking care of yourself refers to the ability to take responsibility of your daily tasks. We already perform a lot of tasks to maintain ourselves such as washing our face, brushing our teeth, dressing up, wearing clean clothes, going for a music class etc. further having a proper diet, well balanced nutrients and maintaining a healthy body weight takes very important place in self-care. 75 to 150 minutes of regular exercise is recommended.

Your brain is the master of everything we do. Therefore, it’s necessary to keep your brain active too. Engaging your brain solving puzzles and creative activities brings us healthy benefits.

Self-care has different meanings to it and one of the famous meanings to it is that self-care is ‘taking time to get to know you better’ getting to know yourself better and figuring out your limits, likes and dislikes. Getting to know what you enjoy the most. Finding time to do what you enjoy the most. Self-care is an essential when you have a stressed out and a busy day. Knowing what your soul needs after a tough day such as listening to music, having a walk, sleep etc.

Tips for better personal self-care routine

1. Making personal and professional self-care a priority — taking time to think of yourself out of your busy lifestyles

2. Paying a good amount of time for your psychological and physical health honestly

3. Having a time to enjoy your hobbies or taking time to relax such as doing yoga, painting, exercising, meditation etc.

4. Having a balanced diet

5. Drinking plenty of water

6. Getting a proper rent and a sleep

7. Having healthy relationships and maintaining a good social life.

8. Nurturing your spiritual side.

self-care or according to Psychology ‘learning how to love yourself’ do wonders. Therefore, developing a self-care plan is beneficial. Finding what's good for you and finding what activities suits you the best will always teach you how to lead a healthy and a happy life.
